And I'm Back

If you read my last post then you know I mentioned I would be traveling back to Sweden with in the next few days, well guess where I am now! Last Tuesday I left my house at 3 AM to go to the airport for my first flight of two flights.
At around 6:30 AM I get on the flight from Houston, TX to Newark, NJ. After that three to four hour flight, I have about a six hour layover in Newark till my next flight at 5 PM. The reason why I don't take a later flight out of Houston is because I am flying on standby, so I have no idea if I will even get on the plane which is why I want to have as many opportunities to try to get on. It really isn't as bad as you think sitting in the airport all day. All I have to do is bring my computer and watch a few movies or play some games on my phone, the only hard part is trying not to fall asleep. This is where Starbucks comes in.
After waiting for hours I finally get on the flight from Newark to Stockholm, which is a huge relief because I don't really want to stay the night in the airport again. As we were taking off you could see New York City in the distance. Now I have never been to New York, but it has always been one the the places I would like to visit most. I am always so close, but it is just not the place I need to be. One day New York, One day.
As we were flying over Greenland I got to see the sun rise. I could not get over how beautiful the colors were so I tried to get a picture of it, but this is the best I could get with my phone.
After about five hours into the flight I start to get restless, as does almost everybody else. I was no longer tired, nor did I want to watch anymore movies, so I just listened to music and waited. I have always had no problem sitting and doing nothing for long periods of time, but as we got closer the more excited I was to see my boyfriend Daniel.
After arriving I met up with Daniel and then we took the bus into the city. The past two days have been lazy days, since Daniel is still in school and I still don't know my way around I just hangout at the house. So for right now I am enjoying a cup of tea and watching Downton Abbey.

Later on I will be meeting up with Daniel and his friends for a late lunch. I must say it will be quite interesting because I will be taking the subway by myself for the first time. I know where and how to get where I am going, but it will just be fun to see if I screw up. Since I have no way of communicating with anybody I wont be 100% sure if they will be on time or I can't say if I am running late. Well wish me luck, this is just something I will have to get use to.

Just A Thought Or Two

I'm getting a bit tired of people lately.
Let me explain, so far this past month I have been questioned many times about my life decisions. There are three main ones that have been the most popular topics amongst my family and friends; my tattoo, career path, and moving. I will only write briefly about my tattoo because I might extend on it in a later post if anybody is interested. A little over a month ago I got part of my favorite quote tattooed on the side of my foot, and I love it. The reason why I only got part of it (first 3 words to be exact) was because the quote was to long and the side of my foot was not. Anyways, the reason why its been such an interesting topic to others is not the fact that I have permanent ink in my foot, but what the tattoo means. Before I tell anyone I will tell them they will not understand the quote at all, but they insist so I tell them. I usually only get to the end of the quote before they nod there heads and say "ah ok" in the ok she is crazy voice. I don't even attempt to explain the personal meaning behind it because they get lost in the quote. I have even been asked why I got it in the first place if nobody can understand it. It doesn't irritate me when people ask what it means, but the way they react after I tell them comes of as rude. A tattoo is for nobody but yourself. It is yours, and it does not matter who understands it or who it has meaning to as long as it does for you. Also many people have told me I will regret it when I'm older, but I don't believe in regretting something that made me happy. The second topic has been what the hell am I going to do with my life. I recently changed my major from psychology to journalism, so frankly I have no idea. All I know is I like writing, but I don't want to be a journalist. Everyone I tell thinks I want to be a journalist, when I honestly think that would be the worst job for me and it would be the last one I would want to accept. It is to much of a high stress job for me, all I want is a degree in writing. Then the question becomes what do I want to write, well I couldn't tell you. I can tell you I would love to be a free lance writer and maybe even one day write a book, but who knows. The last topic of discussion has been where and when I am moving. One thing I haven't mentioned on here yet is that I have been in a long distance relationship for almost a year and half now. Well the first six months wasn't long distance, and when I say long distance I mean I live in the US and he lives in Sweden. It was the same old story of the girl falling in love with the foreign exchange student, but instead of it ending there it continues. We travel back and forth by flying on standby, which has pros and cons. We see each other every two to two and half months, and in fact I will be flying over there Tuesday but we will get into that at another time. As of now the main question has been who will be moving where and when. Everyone has been shocked to hear that it will be me moving there. As for me I am very excited to have a new home in a year. As you can imagine my family isn't to thrilled about this decision, but I know this is the right one for me. Its just one of those things I can feel deep in my bones that I belong there. This will be my fifth trip to Stockholm and I can honestly say it is my favorite place to be. Don't get me wrong I love my family and friends and hate to leave them, but I need to be somewhere where I am happy. Yes I love somethings about the US, but there are also somethings I don't agree with and as of now they out wight the positives. As they have always said the grass is greener on the other side. As much as my family loves me I wish they would stop trying to talk me out of my decision and just support them, be there for me when I do great things or fall flat on my face. Love and support is all I ask for. I will never forget them nor lose contact with them, and I will visit whenever I can, but I have to go. Life is supposed to be an adventure, and I am just choosing to start mine a bit early.

Fresh Market Haul

For months now they have been building a The Fresh Market in my area and it finally opened about a week ago. I had the day off so I decided to check it out. I have been to this kind of grocery store before, but the closest one to my house is a good 45-60 minute drive depending on traffic. If you don't know what The Fresh Market is then I will explain; it is a grocery store that offers manly healthy or healthier products. It could be compared to a Whole Foods or Central Market. Most of there products focus on being organic or all natural, which causes them to be more expensive but worth it. I tend to only buy snacks and drinks from these stores because of the price and since I am still living with my parents they tend to buy  all the food. I am one of those people who like to snack on things through out the day, so 90% of the time you can bet I have food in my purse. What I have learned to do is only buy healthy snacks for these reasons: 1. If I only have healthy snacks then I will only eat healthy snacks, 2. I don't feel as guilty afterwards, 3. They will only be eaten by me because the rest of my family won't touch them.
So with out further ado this is everything I bought:
I will explain what everything is starting from the left and going to the right of the picture. The first two things I bought were bags of toasted granola called Oat Clusters made by Love Grown Foods. I love eating granola with yogurt, as cereal, or even on its own. The one thing I look for when buying granola is if it is clumped together, it makes it ten times easier to eat out of the bag as is, so I was thrilled when I found this brand. I bought two different flavors, sweet cranberry pecan and cocoa goodness. I went ahead and opened the cocoa flavored one to try it out, and I really liked it. I was afraid that it was going to taste to much like chocolate, but there is only a hit of the chocolate taste which will make it easier to eat with other things. Like everybody I have a sweet tooth, more like teeth, and by buying healthier sweets I am able to still get my fix with out the regret. In this case I bought chocolate chip cookies! They are called The Best Chocolate Chip Coolies In The World made by Bart's Bakery. While they are not the best cookies I have ever had they are pretty good. They are made with all natural ingredients and bit size, so the serving  size is much bigger than other cookies. You are abel to have up to 11 cookies for 120 calories and only 5.9 grams of sugar! I will takes these over Oreos any day (no really read the serving size for Oreos). The next items I got were a few juices and teas. The juice is called It Tasted Raaw. I don't have much to say about it yet because I haven't tried it yet, but it is 100% natural with no sugar or preservatives added. I got four different flavors; raspberry lemongrass, better beets, passion fruit wheatgrass, and very berry wheatgrass. I tend to buy these kinds of juices for on the go mornings. Since it is full of natural fruits it is more filling than normal juice so I will usually drink them for breakfast. The tea that I bought is Hibiscus Tea Sangria by Argo Tea, I also bought their mint tea but drank it on the way home oops. I was quit good and for the amount I got I will defiantly be re-buying. The bottle is also glass with a removable label, which is nice if you want to reuse it for some DIY project. Next I got some crunchy snacks, a bag of BBQ chips that are made by The Fresh Market and a small snack bag of Mango Passion Whole Grain Snacks by Grains of Truth. As for the BBQ chips I was surprised. They were the best BBQ chips I have ever had. I really don't like when chips are unevenly flavored, but every chip I tried had just enough flavor and they weren't stingy with it either. Now I haven't tried the snack bag since it is smaller I am sure I will eat it all at once, and I didn't really want to eat everything I bought in the same day. I only bought one bag to try it out before buying multiple ones, but I am sure I will like it after all mango is my favorite fruit. Last but not least I bought Brad's Raw Crunchy Kale. I have wanted to try kale chips for a while now, but never had the materials or time to make them. I was quit excited after I picked them up that they were the second thing I tried after the tea. Not only do they look good, but they also taste good. However, the best thing about all these produces is the fact that I know and can pronounce every ingredient on the back of there packaging

Clothing Haul

For the past few years I haven't been into fashion as much as I would have liked to be. I mean I would get a few cute outfits here and there, but would skip over them in the morning and go for the I just woke up and came to school look. I hate to admit it, but I still have these mornings even after high school. It is just easier to throw on a t-shirt and a pair of jeans and go, but I have set a goal to no longer have these kind of mornings. Ok lets be real here, thats never going to happen so lets make this goal a bit more realistic: I will try not to wear t-shirt and jeans more than 2-3 times a week. To help me stick to this goal I needed a few more spring/summer clothes. Now the last time I actually went shopping and bought multiple items for myself was around last fall, so I started looking around and found some things. I ended up ordering quite a few items from Forever 21 and received them in the mail the other day. Instead of showing you everything I got, I thought I would just show you my favorite items. The first item I was most excited about was the shoes! I am completely shoe obsessed. I have been made fun of for how many pairs of shoes I bring with me when I travel, but hey a girl need options. When I opened the package the first thing I grabbed for was the shoes, I had to make sure they fit. When I pulled them out of the box I became quit nervous because of how small they looked. I tried them on and they fit perfectly! I wore them around the house for the next hour not wanting to take them off. The only problem I have with them is what tops to wear them with. Its easy to pair them with dresses but when it comes to pants or jeans I don't know what kind of tops would go best. The next item, that almost tied for number one favorite, is a jean jacket with cotton sleeves and hood. I know, I know its summer and I live in Texas, so why did I buy it then? I bought this jacket because I have been looking for one since fall that wasn't out of my price range. I am so glade I found this one, it fits great and doesn't make you look boxy. I will be flying to Europe in about a week, and its still about mid to high 50s, so I'm pretty sure I will be wearing this jacket everyday that I'm there. The next item I got is 100% made for the summers here in Texas. It is a light weight crop tank top with beautiful lace detail. It also has a zipper detail that runs down the back. This is great paired with a pair of high wasted shorts or jeans. You can even add a kimono if you need to cover up a bit more, or just to add some color. My last favorite items was a floral skater dress. It came in two different colors, light tealish color (looks blue in the picture) or black. My first instinct was to choose black, but after seeing how much black is actually in my closet I decided to go with the fun bright color. The dress also has a oval shaped cut out on the back. I know I still need to get a few more items, but don't really want to spend the money. I guess that calls for a little thrift shopping!

A Little About Me

Hi everyone and welcome to my lifestyle blog!

I thought I would start out by using my first post as a way you can get to know me a little bit better. My name is Makenna Kupgisch, I recently turned 18 last month and live in south Texas. I graduated high school six months early and just finished my first semester of college. I am working on getting my associates degree at a two year campus with hopes of majoring in journalism or english. My goal is to become a writer, not sure on what, but it is something I find fun and intriguing. I also love reading when I have the time for it, which is mostly when I am traveling. My family is always telling me that I am an old soul. I can only guess it is because of my love of old music, movies, and TV shows. Now, I'm not just talking about classic rock, but Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, The Chordettes, and even Judy Garland. One of my favorite old TV shows has to be The Dick Van Dyke Show. I would love to start watching I Love Lucy, but it is not offered on Netflix and is quit hard to find in stores. I will admit I am a Netflix addict and watch seasons at a time whenever I can, but don't we all. At least say you do so I won't feel as bad. I hope you feel like you have gotten to know me a bit and will join me on my journey though life. I hope to post a few times a week on anything from clothes, food, books, travel, and much more. Please feel free to leave a comment on any topic that you would be interested in or even just to say hi.
